The President of the country, Stevo Pendarovski, in the framework of the NATO Summit in Madrid, participated in the first session of the North Atlantic Council meeting, which is held at the level of Heads of State and Government, and is chaired by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
“In order to successfully face asymmetric threats and challenges, NATO’s defense capabilities need to be strengthened and adapted, and in that regard, Northern Macedonia must provide direction for the Alliance’s future tasks,” President Pendarovski said in his speech. , it is emphasized in the statement of his cabinet. It is necessary, he adds, to send a clear message about our determination as an ally in these times of instability and the strengthening of authoritarianism. “President Pendarovski has reiterated his support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the framework of its internationally recognized guarantees, and stressed that Northern Macedonia fully supports NATO’s comprehensive package of support for Ukraine,” he said.
In this case, he said that we express solidarity with our allies from the eastern wing and that the country will continue with activities within the southeastern wing of the Alliance. Pendarovski said that the Western Balkans is a region of strategic importance whose future is in NATO and the EU, and NATO should continue to strengthen the partnership by supporting its capabilities and resisting malignant actors.
