Polish tennis player to donate 100 euros to Ukraine for every “as” he does at Wimbledon
Hubert Hurkacz, last year’s Wimbledon semifinalist, will allocate 100 euros to Ukraine for each “as” he makes at this year’s London Grand Slam.
The Polish tennis player had eliminated Roger Federer in the quarterfinals last year, and now he is one of the favorites to win Wimbledon, writes “Rhewal”.
“I would like to announce that I will donate 100 euros for every direct point (ace) I reach at Wimbledon to help the people of Ukraine,” Hubert said on his official social media account.
This year, Hurkacz, in 39 confrontations he has made, has made 452 “aces”.
Hurkacz’s initiative, which will face Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich in the first round, has been applauded by other tennis players, most notably Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, who has joined the initiative and will also donate 100 euros for every “as” for the tennis club that has been established in Ukraine, writes “Rhewal”.
This year, Wimbledon denied the participation of Russian and Belarusian tennis players after the military offensive launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine, also supported by Belarus. /Rhewal/
