Election of the new Steering Council in UP, LDK: The ruling party continues to seize the boards of independent institutions
The Senate of the University of Prishtina elected on Friday the five members of the Steering Council of the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”. The Democratic League of Kosovo has reacted to this, saying that the ruling party continues to seize the boards of independent institutions,
In the reaction of LDK, it is said that the selection of the members of the Steering Council of UP was done with party-clientelist criteria, and not academic, as well as with total gender imbalance.
According to them, this influence is being exerted by the ruling party by putting pressure on senators and organizations close to the ruling party.
“The selection largely proved that the members were selected with party-clientelist criteria, and not academic, with total gender imbalance, not even respecting the Law on Gender Equality. The ruling party has made this influence by putting pressure on senators and student organizations close to the ruling party, which has been helped by a controversial interpretation that has taken the senators mandate from the ranks of students, for which there was dissatisfaction and protest before The Rectorate of UP “, it is said in the reaction of LDK.
Further, LDK calls harmful the influence of the government in higher education as they demanded the exclusion of party influence in UP.
The new members of the Steering Council of UP, who received votes in the third round, are: Selim Bezeraj, Rifat Krasniqi, Azem Hajdari, Arian Krasniqi and Naser Kabashi.
